You are here : RAF Personnel Policy/Items of RAF Interest / Leave Policy / Public Holidays
Leave of Absence on Public Holidays may be granted to Service personnel not required for duty and does not count against the Annual Leave Allowance. Service personnel required to attend for duty on Public Holidays may be granted a similar period of Authorised Absence to be taken at a later date. This policy does not apply to those on deployed operations – see below for post-operational leave.
Public Holidays are: New Year's Day; Good Friday; Easter Monday; Early Spring Bank Holiday; Late Spring Bank Holiday; Late Summer Bank Holiday; Christmas Day; and Boxing Day. Establishments may alter these days to suit local circumstances. For example, in England, Wales and Northern Ireland, the May Day Holiday will regularly be taken on the first Monday in May. In Scotland it will be taken on the last Monday in May as the first Monday is usually the Spring Bank Holiday in Scotland.
As a Service person living in SFA, have you ever had to take leave to wait at home for a contractor? If so, please answer 'yes' and click on the brown ‘Have your Say’ block and let us know how much leave you have lost this way in the last 12 months.
