The gate guardian at RAF Brampton has been removed in advance of the Station's closure. Staff went out to say a fond farewell to the Phantom XT914 before it was taken apart. The Stn Cdr said: “It is very sad to see the Phantom go but I’m delighted that it will not be scrapped but will return to its original home at Wattisham where it will be restored and displayed as part of their historical aircraft collection
The MoD has announced it has changed its policy for senior officer accommodation and provision of domestic assistance which will save the Department £3m a year. Following a comprehensive review, the MoD has disestablished the status of Official Service Residence and is publishing a new tri-Service policy on the provision of domestic assistance and official hospitality
The Sun writes today that a report by the ForceSelect Foundation says 8,000 homes for troops are being left empty at a cost of £54m a year while 'thousands of ex-Service personnel are homeless'. The MoD have advise that: MoD-funded living accommodation within an appropriate distance is a condition of military service. 12.85% is empty at any one time but it is not a static list of properties
MHS issue Sodexo Say shopping vouchers to customers as a goodwill gesture for missed appointments. It is understood that there are counterfeit £20 denominations of these vouchers in circulation. MHS have been assured that the vouchers they hold are fine however if customers have any difficulty using the vouchers in retail outlets the advice is to call the number on the back of the voucher
The e-1132 is the electronic version of 'Application to occupy Service Family Accommodation' and was launched just over a year ago. As well as improving the efficiency of the allocations service, DIO firmly believe many more Service personnel would benefit from the advantages using the e-1132 has to offer. In their bid to speed up their processes from 1 Dec 11 illegible paper versions will be returned
Ground tests have been carried out in gardens at Dawes Road Estate, Uxbridge and show elevated concentrations of heavy metals, polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons and small fragments of asbestos in some areas. DIO have issued the following advice to occupants: limit the use of the garden and surrounding land; ensure children and pets do not consume dig or play in the soil; do not grow fruit or vegetables
