The MOD are initiating a pilot project FAB (Families Activity Breaks) for bereaved children and their parent/carer. Families with children under the age of 19 years old who have suffered the loss of either a mother or father (including step and other legal relationships) are invited to apply go on adventure breaks.
Poppy Man has launched the 2008 Poppy Appeal among friends in Basra. This year's theme is 'Serving those who Serve' and looks to emphasis the need to help men and women who are serving today, as well as ex-Services and their families.
On 6th November 2008 a new personnel support service, the Forces Prayerline, was officially launched in UK. The Prayerline is for any member of the Forces community who would like prayer for any reason. So it’s for those in uniform and their families. The telephone number is 0845 26 37 223.
Registrations have opened for the SSAFA Forces Help 2009 UK children’s holidays. These holidays offer children whose lives have been touched by disability and additional needs a chance to have fun and gain confidence.
There is a Pre-Christmas Free Postal Packet Service for delivery of postal packets to authorised overseas operational locations. The service is being operated by the British Forces Post Office and will operate from 7th Nov 08 to 5th Dec 08 only.
The Child Support Agency (CSA) will hand over responsibility for the assessment and collection of child maintenance payments to the Child Maintenance and Enforcement Commission (C-MEC) on 1 Nov 08.
