The magazine Good Housekeeping would like to interview female partners, mothers and daughters of those serving in Afghanistan. For their Christmas issue they are looking for heart-warming stories about how these ladies will be spending Christmas this year, be it sharing Christmas by Skype or enjoying having their loved ones at home during the festive season
The RAF Association announce the appointment of Jane Easton as Secretary General. Jane joins the Association after six years as Diocesan Secretary for the Church of England in Leicestershire. With 25 years in the charitable and not-for-profit sector, Jane brings experience and skills much needed to help drive the Association forward
BBC Radio 4 is planning a debate programme about the future of the military. It will be asking whether the UK needs a large military, or whether it should reduce its power and ambition abroad. In the Daily Express today, the best seller author, Frederick Forsyth claims that the new Sharpshooter rifle is replacing the SA80 A2 rifle on operations. The MoD say this is not correct. In response the MoD said, 'The Sharpshooter will in fact complement the SA80 A2 by adding to the weapons available to commanders on the ground.
Reports are coming through of two men with links to The Duke of York's School in Dover being investigated for alleged child pornography offences. The Ministry of Defence say the partner of a member of staff at the school has been arrested for allegedly publishing indecent images. A gap year teaching student at the school has also been cautioned by police for allegedly viewing and storing indecent image
Artist Fiona Banner has purchased two aircraft from the MoD and turned them into an exhibition at Tate Britain. "My father and I were hillwalking in Wales.
